I used to not be a huge fan of Fitness Trackers for Kids, but lately I've had a change of heart. Read my entire post on Super Healthy Kids to learn why I like trackers for kids and how to use them to get your kids active in a positive way.
For my post this month on Super Healthy Kids I decided to put together a workout instead of just writing about stuff I was thinking. I took the photos at the playground I grew up on, even though now the equipment is different since it's been... a lot of years since I was a kid on the playground. The workout for kids can be done in 5 minutes or you can take it up to 30 if you're feeling really ambitious. Playground Strength Workout for Kids
Yoga is getting more and more popular among adults in the US. It's hard to walk five blocks in NYC without running into a new studio. And now it's catching on with kids as well. In a previous post for Super Healthy Kids, I wrote about the best sports for kids. Gymnastics and martial arts topped my list. But when it comes to physical activity for kids, yoga is in the same category. It creates body control and awareness among a ton of other incredible benefits... including the fact that it's really fun! Read the entire Super Healthy Kids post I wrote about yoga for kids.
This week's video is a little less kids fitness than usual. By less, I mean pretty much none, unless you count hiking with my dad... which I think you should. I was also able to squeez in a quick trip to Muscle Beach where I watched bodybuilders do some pretty insane tricks. The mustache survived for less than 24 hours, but at the aiport I waited in line next to a celebrity and he had nothing bad to say about it, a big win in my book. Watch the video to see it all. Back to New York City and regular kids fitness stuff next week, all in preparation for my big fitness road trip at the end of April!
For a long time, weight training for kids has widely been considered unsafe. Over the past decade, new research has shown that with proper coaching, preparation and a safe environment, it can actually be a very positive way for kids to exercise. For this month's post on Super Healthy Kids, I discuss the whens, whys, and hows of strength training and weight training for kids.

I filmed another workout! This time at the USS Intrepid in NYC. I did have to film in boots and gloves because it was freezing cold... but I got it done! Watch the entire adventure and/or the workout only video.

I wrote another post for Super Healthy Kids! It's about the best sports for kids and how to pick the right one. Although sports are not the only, or even necessarily the best, way to get kids active, they're definitely a huge part of our culture. Head on over to the post about best sports for kids for the full piece and more of my exercising giraffe drawings...

I wrote a post for my friends over at Active Alfie about how to keep kids motivated to be active during the winter. It actually talks a lot about how to keep adults motivated too, with some fun ideas and tips for not letting the cold weather slow you down.
